Lowe’s, The Mine Execs to Join Retail Panels at HFN’s Omnichannel Summit

NEW YORK – Josh Shabtai,director of lab productions and operations for Lowe’s Innovation Labs, and Michelle Newbery, president of The Mine, will participate in two panels during HFN’s Total Home Omnichannel Summit Nov. 1-3 in Delray Beach, Fla.

Shabtai will join Wayfair executives Mike Festa and Shrenik Sadalgi on the panel titled “Real World Application of AR/VR at Retail,” sharing their customers’ experiences with the technology and the retail applications they envision for AR/VR in the future. Leveraging her company’s online pure-play positioning, Newbery will participate on the retail panel on the growing trend of personalization. Titled “How to Get Personal with Your Customer,” traditional and online retailers will explore how they are using compelling experiences and personalization tools to increase customer engagement, conversion and sales.

Shabtai leads a global team whose mission is to make the future real today, developing, testing and ultimately scaling productions across the Lowe’s network. Through real-world applications, his team explores the outer edge of various technologies and use cases, including virtual reality-based education, retail computer vision, in-store robotics programs, real-time manufacturing and mixed reality design.

Prior to joining Lowe’s Innovation Labs, Shabtai co-founded an augmented reality videogame studio, lm/nl, where he directed the best-selling AR title, Star Wars: Falcon Gunner for iOS and co-created the $100-million-plus platform Telepods ; and transformed Band-Aid brand bandages into augmented reality Muppet shows with Band-Aid Magic Vision .

Newbery joined The Mine, formerly ATGStores.com, in 2011, as the company’s chief financial officer. She assumed the role of president two years later. Based in Seattle and owned by Lowe’s, The Mine is an online home furnishings company that combines one-on-one personal concierge service with a large assortment of home products. The Mine partners with leading designers and customer care innovators to take residential and commercial projects from concept to completion by supporting a unique fine furnishings collection with hyper-personalized service, product assembly and installation.

Over the past six years Newbery has spearheaded several rebranding initiatives, including the company’s debut as The Mine, which launched in April 2017. Newbery is a licensed CPA and holds a master’s degree in accounting from Florida Atlantic University. She brings more than 18 years of business leadership to The Mine and has also held roles at Lowe’s, Jarden and Deloitte & Touche.
